The book is a compilation of guidelines termed Seven Mantras to steer a project to success. Targeted at IT professionals, it takes the reader through the subject with effortless ease. The terminology used in the book helps IT professionals to correlate the examples to their work quickly and apply the principles easily.
The Mantras have been identified and structured well, and illustrated with uniformlevel of depth in each area covering the wider spectrum of its influence across the project life cycle in a very meticulous manner. They cover the stakeholders, both external and internal, and some of them also go beyond and address the business value creation for the stakeholders. Every Mantra has a structured approach and the Takeaway boxes give quick reading tips. In fact, reading those alone give a very good perspective of the Mantras.
The illustrations using graphical representation and the figures/pictures bring in great relevance to the concepts. Illustrations with live examples of reports or templates commonly used in the industry help in easy understanding enabling readers to remember the underlying principles longer.
I certainly liked reading the book. It is a useful guide to all fellow project managers in the IT industry. It is a great piece of work with hard efforts put in to compile them in a very unique way the Seven Mantras for success. On reading this book, I do feel that project management professionals would get another view point and is indeed a great reference guide.
